Student Led Conferences
We are pleased to announce that this year we will be doing student-led conferences again on March 15th and 18th.  For those of you who may be new to this procedure, the student-led conference process empowers the student to direct and report on their progress at school. It is a research-based practice used in many exemplary middle schools. Teachers have coached, critiqued, and evaluated their students in order to have them ready to present to their parents and guardians. In short, the students will be running the show. During the conference process students will report on academic progress, articulate goals, and report on assessment data when appropriate.  The student-led conference process is much different from the traditional parent teacher conference in which the teacher does most of the talking and the parent does the listening. Often in such conferences, the student is not even present. The role of the teacher in a student-led conference is one of coach, mentor, and advocate. The teacher will be present for specific questions on issues that the students may not be able to answer. Of course if a parent wants a parent teacher conference with any particular teacher, they may request one at any time.

We believe that the student-led conference process puts the responsibility for reporting learning where it needs to be and that is with the student. We are pleased with the learning that is happening at Bethlehem and know that our students are eager to present their progress to their parents. We thank you for working with them in this journey. If we may be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s homeroom teacher!

Scheduling will open for families with multiple grade students first on 3/4, then open sign up for all families on 3/8. Please follow the link from signupgenius in your email to sign up. If you have multiple students you will receive multiple links and need to sign up with each teacher’s link. For example, if you have an 8th grader and a 5th grader you will need to follow the link from Mrs. Payne to schedule your 8th graders conference AND the link from Miss. Bame to schedule your 5th graders conference.

Ash Wednesday
You're invited to a special Ash Wednesday service!  This year, you'll have the opportunity to do a make-and-take Lenten devotional for your family!  Lent is a time to reflect and prepare our hearts for Easter.  We'd like to help your family do that throughout the 40 days of Lent.  We'd love for you to join us this Wednesday, March 6.  There's a soup supper at 5:30, and the hands-on make-and-take devotional will begin at 6:15, with Ash Wednesday service to follow.  If you're planning on joining us, we'd appreciate it if you'd fill out the form at the link below.  It's simple--it just asks for the family name and how many people are planning on attending the soup supper.  This will help us make sure we have enough food and materials for everyone who'd like to attend.  If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact Pastor Andy, Mrs. Picker, or Miss Closner!  We hope to see you then!

Trimester 3 grades will be coming home with your student on Friday.
